Shipping & delivery
What happens between paying and unboxing — processing, carriers, the rules that govern lithium batteries and oversized models, and exactly what we do when something goes wrong in transit.

Orders are picked, checked and packed at our facility in Woodbury, Minnesota. Processing normally takes 1–3 working days from the moment payment clears. That window is preparation time only — it does not include the days the carrier spends in transit.
We process Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. An order placed on a Friday evening, a weekend or a holiday begins processing on the next working day.
Shipping is calculated at checkout from the delivery address, the weight and the dimensions of what you have ordered. You see the exact figure before you pay — nothing is added afterwards.
| Orders over $99 (contiguous US) | Free tracked shipping |
|---|---|
| Orders under $99 | Calculated at checkout |
| Oversized models | Surcharge may apply, shown at checkout |
| Alaska, Hawaii, US territories | Calculated at checkout, free-shipping threshold does not apply |
The free-shipping threshold is assessed on the order value after any discount and before tax. If a returned item drops the remaining order below $99, the shipping we absorbed may be deducted from the refund.
Transit times below are carrier estimates from the day your parcel leaves us, not guarantees, and they exclude the processing window above.
| Standard (contiguous US) | 3–7 working days |
|---|---|
| Expedited (contiguous US) | 2–3 working days |
| Alaska, Hawaii, US territories | 5–12 working days |
| Canada | 7–15 working days |
| Rest of world | 10–25 working days |
Peak periods, severe weather and customs inspections extend these. We publish the carrier estimate rather than a marketing figure, because a delivery date you plan a race weekend around should be one we actually believe.
LiPo, Li-ion and LiFe packs are classed as dangerous goods. That is not a formality — it changes how they can legally move, and it is the single most common reason an RC order behaves differently from any other parcel.
These rules come from carrier and transport regulation, not from us, and we cannot make exceptions to them.
Large-scale models — 1:8 and 1:10 kits, hydraulic excavators, tower cranes, larger airframes — exceed standard parcel dimensions. They ship in their manufacturer carton inside an outer box, and that combination is often bulky rather than heavy, so the price is set by dimensional weight.
An order can arrive in more than one parcel. This is normal and you are never charged twice for it.
Each parcel gets its own tracking number and its own email. If one arrives and another does not within the estimate above, contact delivery@rcgeardepot.com before assuming anything is lost.
You get a tracking number by email as soon as a parcel is handed to the carrier. Tracking can take up to 24 hours to show movement — a number that shows nothing on the first evening is normal, not a problem.
You can also check any order from the track order page using your order number and the email address you used at checkout, without signing in.
We ship to the address exactly as entered. Please check it before paying — once an order is packed we often cannot change it.
We do not ship to freight forwarders, and we cannot mark parcels as gifts or declare a value other than the amount paid.
Inspect your parcel on arrival. If the outer carton is crushed, torn or wet, photograph it before opening it — a claim without a photograph of the packaging is much harder to win with the carrier.
We do not ask you to deal with the carrier yourself. We open the claim; you deal with us.
We ship worldwide with the exception of destinations under trade restriction and the lithium limits described above.
