The questions we actually get asked — what RTR really includes, why a new battery arrives half empty, which parts break first, and what the warranty does and does not cover.

RTR is ready-to-run: the model is assembled and the electronics are fitted. It does not reliably mean a battery and charger are in the box. Check the In the box tab on the product page — we list contents exactly as the manufacturer supplies them, and we say when a pack is not included. You will usually also need AA cells for the transmitter.
Brushed is cheaper, gentler and easier to live with — the right choice for a first model or for scale crawling where speed is not the point. Brushless is faster, more efficient and needs no brush maintenance, but it is less forgiving of bad gearing and puts more strain on the drivetrain. Many brushed models are sold brushless-ready so you can move up later.
Scale is the size ratio, so a smaller second number means a bigger model. 1:10 is the mainstream size with the widest parts support. 1:18 and 1:24 suit indoors and small yards. 1:8 and larger need real space. For static and diecast display models, 1:50 is the common construction scale.
We sell hobby-grade equipment, not toys, and we do not put an age grade on a model the manufacturer has not graded. Hobby-grade models are faster, heavier and more repairable than toy-grade ones. Where a manufacturer states an age recommendation we show it; where they do not, use your judgement about speed and weight, and supervise charging in every case.
Lithium packs ship at storage charge — roughly 3.8 V per cell — because transport regulations require it and because storing a pack full shortens its life. Charge it before the first run. Nothing is wrong with it.
The cell count in series. Each LiPo cell is nominally 3.7 V, so 2S is 7.4 V and 3S is 11.1 V. More cells means more speed and more heat. Never run more cells than the ESC and motor are rated for — it is the fastest way to destroy both, and it is not covered by warranty.
Stop using it and do not charge it again. Do not post it back to us — a damaged lithium pack is a fire risk in transit and cannot legally be sent as an ordinary parcel. Take it to a local battery recycling point. If it swelled within the warranty period without misuse, email support@rcgeardepot.com with photographs.
No. Loose lithium packs ship by ground within the United States only. See the shipping policy for the detail.
Check the Specs tab for the chassis and scale, and compare with your model's manual. If you are unsure, email support@rcgeardepot.com with the model name and the part number from the manual. We would rather answer a question than process a return.
We hold spares for the production life of everything we sell. A model you cannot get parts for is a shelf ornament, which is why the catalogue carries as many parts as machines.
On most models: driveshafts, suspension arms, hinge pins and the spur gear. On crawlers, link ends and servo horns. A spare set of arms and a spur gear is the usual first order after a model, and it is cheaper than waiting a week mid-season.
Typically 1–3 working days to pack, then carrier transit on top. Full detail, including why an order can split into two parcels, is in the shipping policy.
Email support@rcgeardepot.com as soon as possible. If it has not been packed we can change or cancel it. Once it ships we cannot.
We do not, but your country will. Duties and import taxes are set and collected on arrival, are not included in what you pay us, and are your responsibility as importer.
Card via Stripe, PayPal, and the other methods shown at checkout. The available list is set by order value and destination, so it can differ between carts.
No — you can check out as a guest, and you can track any order from the track order page with your order number and email. An account saves your addresses and keeps your order history.
Thirty days from delivery, unused and in original packaging. The full rules, including what cannot come back, are in the refunds and returns policy.
Not as a full refund. A model that has been run cannot be sold as new, so a change-of-mind return on a run model is a partial refund at best. This is the single most common misunderstanding, which is why it is stated plainly.
If it failed rather than crashed, yes — tell us within 7 days and we treat it as dead on arrival. If it broke in an impact, that is crash damage, which no warranty covers. We will help you find the replacement part either way.
Manufacturing defects in electronics: motors, ESCs, servos, receivers and transmitters. Not crash damage, not water damage to parts that are not rated waterproof, and not wear items like tyres, gears and bearings.
